What is breast cancer
Breast cancer is an uncontrolled growth of breast cells. To better understand breast cancer, it helps to understand how any cancer can develop.Cancer occurs as a result of mutations, or abnormal changes, in the genes responsible for regulating the growth of cells and keeping them healthy.
In most women, breast cancer is first noticed as a painless lump in the breast. You should visit your doctor straight away if you notice a lump or are aware of any new change in your breast. Although most breast lumps are benign (not cancerous), they still need to be checked carefully to rule out the possibility of cancer
Breast cancer patients can have treatment choices if it is detected early, but if breast cancer is detected late, there is very little to be done other than administer palliative care. Treatment also depends on the stage and how far the cancer cells have spread. Treatment may be used alone or combined.
